Sports Learning Assistant (Trent Rosewarne)

Kia Ora, my name is Trent Rosewarne and I run the sports here at Manurewa West. This is my second year coaching here at this wonderful school. I was born and raised here in South Auckland and I am currently in my 4th year of sport coaching, ranging through multiple ages (5-13) and a wide range of schools around the South Auckland region. I enjoy helping the students grow and excel in all the different areas of sport. In my spare time I enjoy playing sports, spending time with family, friends and my border collie. I look forward to a great year here at Manurewa West Primary School.

Digital Technologies Learning Support Co-Ordinator (Gabriel Tongaawhikau)

Tēnā rā tātou katoa,

He uri ahau nō Taranaki me Ngāpuhi

My name is Gabriel Tongaawhikau and I am the digital technologies coordinator here at Manurewa West Primary School. My background is in Maori studies and law, which I am currently still working towards at the University of Auckland. My digital technology experience comes from working at the Auckland War Memorial Museum as a kaiako for Raranga Matihiko (Weaving Digital Technologies programme). In my spare time I like to perform in senior kapahaka, gym and spend time at the beach.

Te Reo (Mariata Brooking)

Manurewa West Primary School – Kiwi Can Programme (KiwiCan Leaders Valerie Fasavalu and Jaydyn Maeli)

What is Kiwi Can? Kiwi Can is the Foundation for Youth Development’s primary and intermediate school programme, it teaches essential life skills and values like resilience, respect, integrity and manners in schools all around the country. It’s a whole school programme with all children attending a Kiwi Can lesson once a week, every week of the school year. Specially trained Kiwi Can Leaders work in pairs delivering the high energy, interactive and, most importantly, fun lessons and are awesome role models for the kids to look up to. The programme aims to equip young New Zealanders with: ·
A sense of self-worth and self-confidence
The ability to take responsibility and be accountable for actions
Valuable life skills
A ‘can do’ attitude to the challenges of life

Learning Support Coordinator (Jessica Codling)

Kia Ora. I’m Jess Codling and I am from the UK. I now call beautiful Aotearoa home. I have 10 years’ experience working as a teacher, I started off in ECE’s before teaching in primary schools. My role this year is the Learning Support Coordinator (LSC). The role allows me to work with all your wonderful tamariki and I’m based in room 9, please feel free to drop by and say Hello! My passion is to see that every child thrives and receives the education they deserve. I will be supporting children with their learning, behaviour and transitions as they grow and achieve their goals, to become life-long learners. I am privileged to still be part of the Manurewa West family after all it is the best! Nga Mihi.

Enviro Schools Programme (Julia Brachi)

Hi everyone! My name is Julia Brachi and after an enjoyable year on maternity leave with my son in 2019 I have returned this year as a part-time teacher.  On Monday’s and Tuesday’s you will find me in the Middle Pod releasing the hardworking teachers for their CRT and on Wednesdays I get to work across the school with groups of children who are interested in Environmental Education. You’ll mostly find us in the garden and you’re always welcome to join us if you don’t mind a little hard work!
